Councils



Since Armstrong incorporated Diversity as a Core Value in 2004 six diversity councils were formed ― the Diversity Advisory Council, Women’s Council, African-American Council, Latino Council, Customer Focus Center Council and the Supplier Diversity Council.

Diversity Advisory Council
Mission: To champion diversity as a value, set the Company's diversity objectives and provide guidance, support and direction to individual Councils.

African American Council 
Mission: To serve as a catalyst for Armstrong that promotes an inclusive, supportive, open environment through: Community Involvement, Networking, Communication ... in such a way to facilitate the recruitment and retention of African-American talent and to capitalize on the diverse views and contributions of all employees.

CFC (Customer Focus Center) Council 
Charter: Education and awareness, team feedback and two-way communication and dissemination of information on corporate diversity opportunities and programs.

Inter Council
Purpose:
•  Champion all aspects of diversity
•  Integrate the Councils for joint projects
•  Align Councils with common strategies
•  Leverage resources
•  Share knowledge and best practices
•  Energize each council with new ideas
•  Plan Diversity Awareness Month Events

Latino Council
Mission: To raise awareness of Latino employee base, within Armstrong and the community in such a way that bilingual skills are recognized and valued, and retention of diverse employees is increased through: Communication, Career Opportunities, Networking … in a way that Armstrong is a stronger more diverse company and business results are improved.

Supplier Diversity Council
Goals:
•  Promote diversity among our supplier base
•  Identify and determine our current spend with minority suppliers
•  Develop a Supplier Diversity web site for businesses to register with Armstrong
•  Benchmark with other companies to learn more about successful supplier diversity programs
•  Establish measures of progress in diversifying the supply base in 2005 and beyond

Women’s Council
Mission: To serve as a resource and champion for the women of Armstrong in such a way that the recruitment, retention and promotion of women are improved through: Communication, Development, Networking, Advising … in a way that engages all employees inclusively so that Armstrong is a more successful organization and a better place to work.
