Colour system
Harmony and virtuosity inspired by nature
 |
Unbelievable variety |
|
Colour designer Peter Zoernack adopts every shade of the colour wheel harmoniously in different levels of brightness.
All shades can be combined within each set for a seamless performance, and complement each other perfectly. The reason: "It
is the veil of these natural shades that imbues them with value and dignity, that gives them their elegance." Zoernack has
therefore composed colour levels with different muting effects for every shade. This principle, which he has taken from Nature,
makes the DLW Linoleum collection organic, harmonious and natural.

LPX and PUR surface coatings
A double strategy able to meet any requirements.
 |
| |
|
The surface of the DLW Linoleum is refined in the last production step. This finish makes the surface of the flooring resistant to moisture and abrasive
dirt, which facilitates cleaning.
Choose from two surface finishes:
|
|
|
The low-cost basic surface protection for DLW linoleum. As long as the recommended cleaning and maintenance instructions are
followed, this finish can cope without additional treatments. And a perfect appearance can be restored fairly easily when
the floor has been badly maintained.
This makes DLW Linoleum LPX Finish an ideal floor covering for schools.
|
| |
|
|
 |
|
This surface finish copes without initial treatment, thorough cleaning intervals are no longer required and running maintenance
costs are low. The Linoleum PUR Eco System is resistant to marking and as well as being highly resistant to chemicals up to
pH 12 (e.g. hand disinfectants). Professor Dipl. Ing. Manfred Hegger of the Technical University in Darmstadt claims that
Linoleum PUR improves the eco audit of a building throughout its entire lifecycle.
This makes Linoleum PUR Eco System the ideal floor covering for hospitals and nursing homes.

Ecology and sustainability
The best choice for man and nature.

DLW Linoleum is a long-lasting floor covering made from renewable raw materials whose environmental impact is so low that it can hardly
be reduced further. In view of the scientific demands for protecting the environment, there is a hardly a product out there
that meets this criteria!
Kind on resources The raw materials for DLW Linoleum are 98 percent organic or mineral-based, with naturally renewable materials accounting
for 80 percent. DLW Linoleum is produced entirely without crude oil.
Easy on the environment As linoleum largely consists of renewable raw materials, it is more or less CO2-neutral over its entire life cycle. It is
manufactured using a traditional formula without plasticisers, chlorine or heavy metals. The linoleum waste occurring during
production is recycled during manufacture.
Healthy With linseed oil Armstrong is using a raw material of food-grade quality. All other raw materials are safe to health and even
comply with the stringent requirements of the European Toy Safety standard (EN 71)

|
Award-winning DLW Linoleum has been awarded the following environmental labels: Blue Angel, Scandinavian Swan Label and Austrian Environment
Certificate.
The production plant at Delmenhorst has been awarded the EC ecological audit and the EMAS environmental certificate. The facility
is regularly inspected by the organisation GUT Zertifizierungsgesellschaft für Managementsysteme and environmental experts.
Low-emission It has been confirmed by the German Federal Environment Agency: DLW Linoleum releases so few organic substances into the indoor
air that its emission value falls well below the threshold level.

Design prizes and awards
DLW Linoleum: Always a stylish floor covering
 |
| |
|
DLW Linoleum is also an excellent floor covering in terms of design. The 2004 collection was awarded the following design prizes. We are
sure that the 2008 collection will continue this tradition!
|
 |
|
ADEX stands for ”Awards for Design Excellence” and is the most important prize for furniture, equipment and surface finishes
in the design industry. Design Journal, the international magazine for interior designers, architects and building administrators
sponsors the ADEX Awards.
|
 |
|
The iF awards are one of the most important design awards world-wide. The iF (Industrie Forum Design e.V.) evolved from the
”Special Exhibition of Perfectly Formed Industrial Products” in 1953. It was joined in 2001 by iF International Forum Design
GmbH which has been responsible for all areas of business and especially holding of the renowned iF awards, ever since.
As an independent institution iF has an important mediating function between design and industry. This makes a major contribution
to the success of design services in the economic context and raises the public awareness for design.

|
The architecture and design competition of the architecture magazines AIT and xia is aimed at designers and manufacturers
of innovative products in the fields of floors, floor coverings and floor systems. It was initiated with the intention of
awarding prizes to those floor solutions on the market which meet the demands and requirements of architects particularly
well. Other criteria in the assessment are the functional and design quality, the genuineness of the material and the variety
of application possibilities.

 |
|
The Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany is the highest official award in the area of design. It is known as the
»Prize of Prizes« because no other design prize places such high demands on the participants. A company can only take part
in the design award when his product has already won a national or international prize. Another precondition for participating
is the nomination by the Land Ministries and Senators of the Economy or the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology.
DLW Linoleum was nominated for this award three years in succession!

eurodecor readers have been voting for the Company of the Year since 2004. They receive a questionnaire in October and choose
the best company in a total of twelve categories in their opinion.
In 2006 Armstrong won the ”Branch Best” award in the ”Best Product in terms of Quality” category for DLW Linoleum.

Environmental certificate and marks
Together for a healthy environment
 |
| |
|
DLW Linoleum fulfils the highest environmental standards by using renewable raw materials as well as a strict environmental management
system which is regularly checked by internal and external audits.
|
 |
|
The Blue Angel is one of the oldest ecology labels. It is awarded by RAL (Deutsches Institut für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung
e.V.) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment. The government environment mark was awarded to DLW Linoleum because it satisfies the following criteria one hundred percent:
- consists largely of the renewable raw material wood
- environmentally friendly production, especially the coating
- very safe from a health point of view in a living environment
|
 |
|
The Scandinavian Swan Label evaluates the entire manufacturing process. This also includes emission of pollutants in addition
to energy and water consumption. The Nordic Swan also supports important innovations which contribute to environmental protection.
DLW Linoleum was awarded the certificate because it stresses the environment as little as possible and guarantees sustainability.
|
 |
|
The Austrian Environment Mark sees itself as a guarantee for environmentally friendly products and services. Introduced in
1990 on the initiative of the Minister of the Environment at that time Dr. Marlies Flemming, it is awarded to products, tourism
companies and educational facilities. It provides the public with information about the environmental stress of consumer goods
by their manufacture, use and disposal and identifies environmentally friendly alternatives.
DLW Linoleum was awarded this certificate because it satisfies a number of environmental criteria as proven by an independent
inspection. The environment mark combines a high environment standard with quality and product safety.
|
 |
|
On the 4th of December 1990 the "Gemeinschaft umweltfreundlicher Teppichboden e. V." (GUT) was founded with the aim of guaranteeing
maximum environmental compatibility in every stage of the ‘life cycle’ of a floor covering. The GUT seal indicates that DLW Linoleum has been examined for its health and ecological aspects and satisfies the strict
GUT standards. Only these products receive a test number. This number on the back of the product is a guarantee that the respective
floor covering has been tested by one of the recognised test institutes. The compliance with the GUT criteria is monitored
by annual inspections at the manufacturers and in the market. Companies which belong to the GUT association have sworn, to examine products for damaging chemicals and emissions whereby
the tests are carried out by one of the five neutral European research institutes.
|
 |
|
In mid 1995 the European Union issued a "Directive (EEC) No. 1836/93 of the Commission on the Voluntary Participation in a
Community System for Environmental Management and Industrial Inspection", or "EC-Eco-Audit" or "EMAS" (= Eco-Management and
Audit Scheme) for short. It gives companies the possibility to examine the environmental aspects of their operations and to
improve on them continuously. They are urged to voluntarily carry out environmental company audits, compile environmental
guidelines, develop environment programs for improving their environmental effects, introduce environmental management and
present their results to the public in an environment declaration approved by an independent auditor. The Environment Audit
Act of 1995-12-07 offers the national basis for effective execution of the EC-Eco-Audit Directive.
|
 |
|
The ISO (International Organisation for Standards) is a world-wide association of national standards institutes.
ISO 14001 for environmental management systems exists since 1996 and was awarded to Armstrong because it fulfils the following
standards:
- Introduction and maintenance of an environmental management system
- Formulation and compliance with a company-specific environment policy
- Uniform implementation of environment strategies
- Compliance with environment laws and regulations
- Certification of the environment management system by an external expertise
- Internal inspection system for complying with the environment regulations
|
 |
|
ISO 9001 defines the requirements for a quality management system. Armstrong received this approval because all fields of
business such as development, production, laying and customer service satisfy this standard.
